Even though Friday the 13th is often considered to be an unlucky day, it could be the luckiest day of someone’s life if they hit the Mega Millions jackpot on Friday night.
According to a press release from the Mega Millions, seven jackpots have been previously won on Friday the 13th, with an eighth winner feasible this week. The jackpot has now soared to an estimated $670 million ahead of the drawing
The jackpot is now worth an estimated $317.8 million lump-sum settlement after taxes, according to the lottery.
“The last Mega Millions jackpot won on a Friday the 13th was on January 13, 2023, when a giant $1.348 billion prize was won in Maine. That is still the third-largest jackpot in the game’s history,” the lottery said in a press release.
Michigan has been the luckiest state on the unlucky day, giving four winning jackpots throughout the years.

Mega Millions jackpot edging closer to $1 billion
The current jackpot is the eighth largest ever, the lottery said in a press release. All the jackpots won in 2024 were ranked in the top 10 highest jackpots ever. The highest triumph this year was $1.13 billion, with an estimated receive-home worth of $536.6 million.
That ticket was purchased at a ShopRite Liquor in recent Jersey.
When is the next Mega Millions drawing?
The winning numbers for the $670 million jackpot will be drawn on Friday, Dec. 13 at 11 p.m. ET.
How to play the Mega Millions
In order to buy a ticket, you’ll have to visit your local convenience store, gas station or grocery store − and in a handful of states, you can purchase tickets online.
To play, you will require to pick six numbers. Five numbers will be white balls ranging from 1 to 70. The gold Mega Ball is one number between 1 and 25.
If you depend the odds are against you, inquire for a ”Quick Pick” or an ”straightforward Pick,” and the computer will randomly generate the numbers for you.
Players can add the ”Megaplier“ for $1, which can boost non-grand prize winnings by two, three, four or five times. The Megaplier is drawn before the Mega Millions numbers on Tuesday and Friday.
