Costco issues recall for cold and flu medication over concerns of contamination

Costco has issued a recall for a cold and flu medication, sold at its stores at the complete of 2024, over concerns of contamination.

The retail giant, in an advisory issued on Jan. 2, said Kirkland Signature brand’s “Severe Cold and Flu Plus Congestion” medication is being recalled “out of an abundance of caution.”

“LNK has initiated a recall for the accidental release and shipment of a specific lot code that was rejected due to potential foreign material contamination,” the advisory said. LNK International is a private business that “produces solid and liquid dose, over-the-counter pharmaceuticals for private label programs,” and is based in Hauppauge, recent York, according to the business’s LinkedIn page.

What medicine sold at Costco was recalled?

The recalled medicine is Kirkland Signature brand’s “Severe Cold and Flu Plus Congestion” medication, sold between Oct. 30 and Nov. 30, 2024.

The recalled items have a Lot Code of P140082 on the box.

What to do with the recalled medicine?

Costco has warned against using any remaining product marked with the affected lot code and advises purchasers to profitability the item to their local Costco for a packed refund.

The medicine recall comes shortly after the wholesaler recalled more than 10,000 cartons organic eggs over salmonella concerns. The Kirkland Signature Organic Pasture Raised eggs, sold in 25 Costco stores in five states, were recalled Nov. 27 by producer Handsome Brook Farms of recent York because they could be contaminated with salmonella, the Food and Drug Administration said at the period.
