Dunkin’ locations left doughnut-less due to holes in supply, shortage

Dunkin’ customers in a few states were left with doughnut-sized holes in their stomachs last week when a temporary supply shortage left some stores without doughnuts.
“A single-supplier issue temporarily impacted some locations in a handful of states,” a Dunkin’ spokesperson confirmed in an emailed statement to USA TODAY Tuesday. “Less than one percent of Dunkin’ locations are currently still impacted, and we’re actively working to restock those locations.”
“We anticipate that inventory will be replenished soon,” the statement concluded.
According to reporting from the Associated Press, Newsweek, and other outlets, the shortage affected stores across Nebraska and recent Mexico, among other states. According to KDVR, the Fox television affiliate in Denver, some locations in Colorado were also affected.

Manufacturing error reportedly caused supply issue
Dunkin’ stores in Omaha, Lincoln, and Grand Island in Nebraska all had no doughnuts in their cases Thursday and Friday and put up signs on their doors and drive-thru kiosks informing customers that the pastries were unavailable “due to a manufacturing error,” the Associated Press and TODAY both reported.
The Dunkin’ spokesperson provided USA TODAY with images Tuesday showing the Nebraska locations with their doughnuts restocked.
Other major doughnut chain not impacted
USA TODAY reached out to another major national doughnut chain Krispy Kreme Tuesday to view if they had any supply issues.
“At Krispy Kreme, we make our doughnuts fresh from scratch every day at shops all across the country,” said Dave Skena, Chief Growth Officer at Krispy Kreme, in an emailed statement. “We don’t depend on other manufacturers for the awesome doughnuts we serve our guests.”
