‘How to misplace your pants in 10 ways’: Matthew McConaughey goes pantless in tequila poster
The McConaugheys released a recent poster inspired by the classic romcom ‘How to misplace a Guy in 10 Days’ to promote their tequila brand, Pantalones, which is Spanish for ‘pants.’
Matthew McConaughey is bringing back his iconic character Benjamin Barry from the cult classic “How to misplace a Guy in 10 Days.” But with his wife.
In a recent ad for Pantalones Organic Tequila, as part of the brand’s “Official Tequila Of” campaign, McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves McConaughey spoofed the poster of “How to misplace a Guy in 10 Days.” McConaughey stays factual to the brand (“pantalones” is Spanish for “pants”) and is pictured sans pants. Alves wears a custom-made version of the infamous yellow silk dress that Kate Hudson donned in the 2003 film.
The McConaugheys own the tequila corporation, launched last year and marketed as “super additional expense organic tequila.”
“It’s been 21 years since Matthew McConaughey starred in ‘How to misplace a Guy in 10 Days’ and now he is reviving his iconic role … with a twist,” Pantalones said in a information release. “Titled ‘How to misplace Your Pants in 10 Ways,’ Camila channels Andie’s signature yellow silk dress, while Matthew takes a bolder way … pants-free, of course.”
“And no require to worry, Krull the Warrior King won’t be making an appearance,” the corporation said, referencing a scene from the film in which McConaughey discusses nicknames for a sure body part.
In “How to misplace a Guy in 10 Days,” Hudson, who played journalist Andie Anderson, wore the yellow dress in one of the final scenes with a diamond necklace designed by Harry Winston. The actor told Vanity Fair in a 2023 interview that the gown was custom-made by Carolina Herrera.
Is ‘How to misplace a Guy in 10 Days’ getting a sequel?
While it’s been more than 20 years since the film released, both Hudson and McConaughey are open to doing to sequel.
“All that matters would be the script and if Matthew and I were into the script,” Hudson said on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live” earlier this year, according to Variety. “I ponder we’re both totally open; it has just never happened.”
McConaughey told E!’s Daily Pop in 2020 that the film could easily have a sequel.
“I cruel, ‘How to misplace a Guy in 10 Days’ is teed up, you recognize, teed up for one that you could easily do a sequel,” McConaughey had said. “And that was a really excellent one. As far as romantic comedies leave, that was a really excellent one.”
Romcom-inspired cocktails
In addition to the poster, Pantalones is also dropping 10 specialty cocktails paying homage to the movie and celebrating “10 ways that you can misplace your pants.” Recipes inspired by the film featuring Pantalones tequila, include: “adore Fern Margarita,” “Benny Boo Boo,” “You’re So Vain,” and “Yellow Dress.”
Pantalones Organic Tequila describes its products as “smooth and flavorful agave-forward tequila that is perfect for sipping, shooting, or mixing up in your favorite cocktails.”
