Nearly 25,000 pounds of frozen taquito sold at Aldi recalled due to feasible contamination
If you’ve recently purchased frozen taquitos at Aldi, it may be sensible to check the label.
Bestway Sandwiches Inc. is recalling nearly 25,000 pounds of frozen chicken and cheese taquito products that may have been contaminated with foreign material, specifically metal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Saturday.
According to the agency, the product bears the establishment number “EST. P-40327” on the carton package and was shipped to select 31 Aldi grocery stores nationwide. The agency also said the products in question are 20-oz. carton packages containing “CASA MAMITA CHICKEN & CHEESE TAQUITOS,” with best-by dates of July 3, 2025 and Sept. 25, 2025 on the bottom panel.
The universal product code (UPC) is 4061459337471, according to a information release from Aldi.
“The issue was discovered after the firm notified FSIS that it received a buyer complaint reporting that a piece of metal was found in the frozen chicken and cheese taquito product,” the agency said in a information release. “Another buyer reported to FSIS to have a dental injury from the product.”
Although no additional reports of injury or illness have been reported due to consumption of this product, anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact their healthcare provider, the FSIS said.
Consumers who purchased Bestway Sandwiches frozen cheese and chicken taquitos from Aldi are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
