An Olive Garden customer who found black lettering on a breadstick has gone viral after sharing the post on TikTok.

The restaurant chain allegedly responded by sending a $100 gift card to rectify the circumstance, according to a pursue-up post showing the gift card total.

On Nov. 16, the TikTok user shared a photo of the breadsticks with “O  K6” written in black lettering.

“Guys why is there letters on my olive garden breadstick,” the poster captioned the photo.

The next day, Olive Garden commented on the post from its official TikTok account and said the business was concerned about the post.

“Can you please send an email to [email protected] with your packed name, and the location you went to?” the restaurant asked.

By Nov. 20, four days after the original post, the customer shared a screenshot of an email from Olive Garden. The business allegedly sent the customer a $100 electronic gift card.

Neither Olive Garden or its owner, Florida-based Darden Restaurants, immediately responded to USA TODAY’s requests for comment Monday morning.

But before Olive Garden addressed the circumstance, social media users hopped in the comments under the original post and shared their own theories.

“They’re from frozen bags so the label must’ve … gotten on that one,” wrote one TikTok user.

Another person claiming to be an Olive Garden employee suggested the same thing, adding that when the bread sticks “sit in the freezer for a while,” it’s normal for the lettering to rub off on the bread.
