What state won the Powerball last night? Lucky player wins $478 million Powerball jackpot
Winning numbers were announced on Wednesday at 11 p.m. ET.
One lucky person in Georgia won the over $450 million Powerball jackpot after their ticket matched all the numbers drawn on Wednesday.
The jackpot rose to around $478 million after no one won during Monday’s drawing, but the winner can receive home about $230.5 million after taxes, according to the lottery.
The last two jackpot winners won back in August. A lucky California player won a $44.3 million Powerball jackpot on Aug. 19. And the week before, on Aug. 12, a Pennsylvania player won the $213.8 million jackpot.
Wednesday’s triumph marks the eighth period someone has won the Powerball jackpot this year. This also marks the seventh period someone in Georgia has won the jackpot.
The winning numbers were drawn just after 11 p.m. ET Wednesday night, and we have the results below.

How to play the Powerball
In order to purchase a $2 Powerball ticket, you’ll have to visit your local convenience store, gas station or grocery store − and in a handful of states, you can purchase tickets online.
To play, you will require to pick six numbers in total to mark on your ticket. Five numbers will be white balls ranging from numbers 1 to 69. The Powerball is red and one number which is between 1 and 26.
If you desire to boost your chances of winning, you can add a “Power Play” for $1 which increases the winnings for all non-jackpot prizes. This addition can multiply winnings by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or 10X.
Players can also inquire a cashier for a “Quick Pick” where a cashier will provide you computer generated numbers on a printed Powerball ticket.
Drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights. If there’s no jackpot winner, the funds prize will boost by millions.

Tickets can be purchased in person at gas stations, convenience stores and grocery stores. Some airport terminals may also sell lottery tickets.
